QUERY: What year is this? Mrs. Nell McPhee (nee Annie Cummings) of Goose River, daughter of Jane McKinnon, is 82 years old. Charles Gillis of St. Peter’s had died in a car accident the years before. Lawrence Gillis, son of Joe, lived in the McDonald family home located 1/2 mile from St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The McKinnon farm had been sold and the house and buildings torn down. Contact: Patricia H. Marfiak, (410) 956-9267; email: marfiaktp@erols.com (Original message: I have a question I've been asking for years with no success. I have a wonderful long letter, written originally to a relative in the early part of the 20th century, given to another who was that generation's family researcher, and then given to me (in 1982) as I play the same role now. Part of the date is missing (it has "March 12, but no year) and I would like to establish its date with facts given in the letter. All records for the family take place in Lots 41 and 42. The writer of the letter is Mrs. Nell McPhee, 82, nee Annie Cummings, Goose River. Her mother was Jane McKinnon. She mentions that Charles Gillis of St. Peter's was killed the year before she wrote the letter in a car accident. She  made a drawing of  the McDonald family home located 1/2 mile west of St. Peter's Catholic Church at St. Peter's and said it still existed and was occupied at the time she wrote by Lawrence Gillis, son of Joe Gillis. She also said that the McKinnon farm at Goose River had been sold and the old house and outbuildings torn down before she wrote.)
