Mi'kmaq, the history of the first wave of settlers from Europe, their
move to Lunenburg from Halifax, and thence up along the shore to the
Head of the Bay. It took years and years of research and includes units
on education, industries, stores, war, individual biographies, famous
buildings, genealogy, and much more on the life of the Foreign

Glimpses of the
Past from Long and Brier Island

Society.
Published: Originally published in 1998, the Islands Historical Society
has republished the book in October 2007, after it was sold out for
five years. Fully indexed, the book is 442 pages of historical and
genealogical information, with extensive details on the physical and
social history of both Long and Brier Islands. Church membership lists,
census information, social notes from the 1880's to 1906 as well as
death and marriage accounts taken from the Christian Messenger are
included.
Price: $32.50, plus postage and handling. U.S. copies will have a 5%
exchange fee apply. A discount will be applied to wholesale
orders of 3 books or more, for resale within museum or archives’ gift
shops. This is the last time the book will be republished and available
for sale.
